CSA, oops!

All of the items listed in this section are items whose history involved some sort of mistake...sometimes a guest picks up a ball upside down and signs upside-down to the logo before the mistake is caught...sometimes, the wrong item is signed...sometimes the correct item is signed with the wrong inscription. You get the idea. Isn't it always the case that there are so many ways to do something wrong and only one way to do it right? Official Gold Glove Baseball signed in blue ballpoint on sweet spot by Jim Kaat with "16x G. G. 1962-77" inscription at the November 1st, 2009 Show at Chantilly. Signature is upside down to logo.

Sold for $15 (a $42 value)

Item #2:

NFL Official Goodall "The Duke" football signed by Ozzie Newsome in silver at the October 31st, 2009 Show at Chantilly. A CSA oops! item due to the weakness of the pen used.

Riddell Orioles baseball mini helmet signed by Mike Cuellar in thin silver pen. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Item #4

Official NBA game basketball signed twice by Wes Unseld with HOF inscription. Ball and both signatures are good.

Item #4 was sold in BidBoard Group VI for a final bid of $50 (a $150 value)

Item #5

Official NFL Tagliabu football signed by Steve Smith. Both ball and signature are good. However, item belongs in oops! because it was autographed in the wrong panel and upside down to writing on neighboring panel.

Includes Steve Smith Authentic hologram.

Item #5 (a $170 value) was sold in Group IV on the BidBoard for a final bid of $100

Item #6

USC mini helmet signed by Charles White in silver. 'C' is lighter than rest of signature. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Riddell San Diego Padres baseball mini helmet signed by Tony Gwynn in thin silver pen.

Indoor/Outdoor basketball signed by Elvin Hayes with HOF 90 inscription in silver pen. Ball and signature are good except that autograph is upside-down to Spalding logo. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Sonny Jurgensen 16x20 signed in blue sharpie with HOF 83 inscription. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket. Edges of photo are slightly curled as can be seen in photo; lies flat in frame.

Eric Dickerson Rams 16x20 signed in blue sharpie with HOF 99 inscription. Photo has crease on lower left-hand corner. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Notre Dame replica mini helmet signed on both sides by Paul Hornung with 56 Heisman inscription in black sharpie. Both signatures are good. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Redskins 2-bar Spear mini helmet signed by Bullet Bill Dudley with HOF '66 inscription in silver pen. 'Du' of 'Dudley' is slightly smudged as can be seen in photo. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Spalding NBA mini basketball signed by Wes Unseld in black sharpie. Very faint stray ink marks underneath autograph as can be seen in photo. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Nick Buoniconti GLA card signed in blue sharpie with HOF inscription. Very slight smudging on the inscription as can be seen in scanned image. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket and was signed at our July 2009 Show at Chantilly.

A classic oops item. Authentic double-stitched Cal Ripken jersey with retirement patch. Jersey is signed on back number 8 in silver pen. Signature is good, except for the fact that it is signed upside down on the jersey! For anyone with the machinery, number could be removed and re-stitched to put the signature the right way up. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Item #28

Jersey number signed by Army Heisman winner Pete Dawkins in black sharpie. Mr. Dawkins won the Heisman Trophy in 1958, but the date inscribed is '59, the year in which he graduated. Sew number onto a jersey for a unique Dawkins item! Number includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Item # 29

'72 Dolphins 2-bar Throwback mini helmet signed by Bob Griese at our March 2010 Show at Chantilly. The '90' of the HOF '90 inscription was smudged during signing. Buyer has the option of taking helmet with smudged inscription or choosing to have CSA wipe off the inscription and accept helmet with signature only.

Arizona State college mini helmet signed by Charley Taylor at our November 2009 Show at Chantilly. There is nothing wrong with either the item or the signature. The only reason this is an "oops" item is because the customer who originally ordered the item wanted the inscription "Go Sun Devils!", but Mr. Taylor inscribed this helmet with his HOF year.

Official Major League baseball signed by Gaylord Perry at our October/November 2009 Show at Chantilly. An oops item only because the "No Hitter' part of the inscription is a bit messy.

Kellen Winslow Goal Line Art card signed in blue sharpie. Some feathering on the letters of 'Kellen' as can be seen in photo. Item includes CSA hologram and Certificate of Authenticity.

Steve Carlton baseball Hall of Fame plaque postcard signed in blue sharpie. Pen beaded on the tail-end of signature, as can be seen in photo. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket.

Joe Bellino Heisman card signed in black sharpie. This item was auctioned in BidBoard Group XIX where it went for a final bid of $12.50. It is now listed for sale in the Bargain Basement at that same price because the winning bidder never paid.

Steve Garvey 8x10 signed in blue sharpie. Slight smudging on the final 'e' of 'Steve' as can be seen in photo. Item includes CSA hologram and original autograph ticket.

Lenny Moore 8x10 signed in blue sharpie with HOF 75 inscription. Some smudging, mainly confined to the HOF inscription, as can be seen in photo. Item includes CSA hologram and ticket. Smudged inscription could be wiped off, at discretion of buyer.
